Orientations!

Feeling in a bit of a slump, so thought I'd babble a little bit and see if I can crack this writer's block. So, characters' sexual orientations, because why not. I might get rambly?

Livi is definitely asexual. Literally the only person she's ever shown interest in is Mal in Kearny 'Verse, and she had a hard time working that out. Besides him, nothing. In Jigsaw (/Main) 'Verse she doesn't date at all. She's probably aromantic too, as she seems to only have a technical/book knowledge about how romantic stuff is supposed to work. This is fine and she is not broken, thank you very much.

Max is gay as hell. He used to think he was straight because he was raised to believe straight was default and oh noes teh ghey is bad. Lots of internalized homophobia to work through, insert 'so far in the closet he's in Narnia' line here. Brandon got him questioning by existing and being hot, he had some Gay Panic, and then 'oh no the guy I like is straight whyyyy' pining for entirely too long. Finally broke down and confessed, learned bisexuality exists. Being with Brandon makes him ridiculously happy, and he feels a lot better now that's he's figured himself out.

Turns out Becca is pansexual and also horny as all hell. I used to think she was straight, but then she got with Priss, so nope. And Then they came up with The Arrangement so they could take care of their respective needs while Priss was away for work (long trips, weeks at a time), and it turns out if she connects with someone, she'll do them. She's been around a long damn time, too long to be concerned with genders. Side deals aside, she adores Priss and is going to marry her and it will be beautiful. Also, the very second Priss expresses concern over The Arrangement, she'll call it off. She would much rather her girlfriend be comfortable and happy.

Priss is a lesbian, probably. She had a thing with Brandon, but he basically talked her into it because of his panic to Appear Straight and it was a total disaster all around. (Except for the sex. The fight!sex was great, actually.) She was basically a distraction from his actual love interest, and figuring that out messed up her perception of dating stuff something awful. She was completely baffled when Becca confessed feelings for her (actually her, not 'you're the distraction from someone I can't have'), but gave it a go anyway, and holy shit she's over the moon now is this how dating is actually supposed to be ohmywow.

Brandon is a bi disaster. He'd only been with guys before Priss, and despite it starting out as a distraction (must Appear Straight to new friends who don't know my sexual past, because oh shit the guy I like is possibly straight and will go running if I confess to him noooo) he actually fell for her. It really did break his heart when she wised up and dumped him, but he'll be the first to say he was a shit boyfriend and totally deserved it. That on top of his previous relationships (all bad) made him feel pretty undesirable, so he was pretty damn surprised to find out Max liked him back. This is the Best Damn Relationship he's ever been in (admittedly his bar is pretty low: Max is the only partner to never raise a hand to him) and he would trade it for nothing.

Lilli hasn't really thought about it? She's pretty young and hasn't really dated at all. For a little while she did declare Max her boyfriend, but it was basically just "yay we'll hold hands now" when he could handle the contact, which wasn't often. She's open to the idea of 'if I meet a right someone then okey dokey' but she isn't really looking. Put her down for questioning for now.

Ivy thinks she's straight, but she's also never tried dating anyone. She is very busy being the Captain of the Queen's Guard and has no time for such things right now. Perhaps later, but possibly not. Currently none of the fae guys have caught her interest, but none of the fae ladies have either. Maybe she's ace and doesn't know it! I'm not sure there's a fae word for it. She is Married to Her Work.

Maxwell is either straight or a little bi-curious. So far he's only dated girls here and there, but he's not really opposed to dating a guy maybe if he meets the right one. This hasn't happened yet and none of the relationship's he's had so far have gone past a year or so, as one or both parties eventually loses interest. He's not too worried about it currently.

Chad is definitely straight. He likes ladies. Like, a lot. He will tell you this if you ask. Often. He likes ladies, and ladies only. And possibly Brandon because sharing headspace with a very gay boy who loves Brandon very much will do that to you I guess? But only a little. Little little. He's gotten past the Gay Panic for the most part and is never ever going to tell anyone about it, ever. Besides maybe Shiro, since Shiro's kind of his wingman now and he is Shiro's, apparently. There's a lot of shit he can tell Shiro that he wouldn't tell anyone else, so yeah. They're turning into sort of an Odd Couple, kind of.

Shiro is totally gay and has a liiiiiittle crush on Chad that he knows won’t go anywhere. He’s also fairly sure it’s mostly because Chad was the only person he was able to have contact with in The Headspace? So maybe it's more like gratefulness than an actual crush but maybe not. They kept each other sane. The only relationship he'd been in was with Ozoka before he died/got stuck in The Headspace, and knowing what he's been up to since then he's feeling pretty reluctant to search him out now that he's not dead/stuck. So, staying single for now.

Ozoka is also totally gay; in fact he's rarely met a man he doesn't want to bed. Part of that is just liking men, part of it is his incubus heritage giving him a Mighty Need to get laid. A lot. Shiro was his First Love and the best and longest relationship he's had. Since Shiro died he's lost his mind a bit and mostly had flings and one night stands, and a complete horror show of a thing with Brandon. As in, nearly killed him. A few times. He's not a good partner right now and may never be again.

Drew doesn't know what label he should use? Possibly the closest one is gay, but he's kind of genderfluid so not exactly? He feels like a boy most of the time and is head over heels over Taran, who is somewhat nonbinary but usually a boy, so it's probably close enough. He is whatever the orientation is that says he really really likes his favorite vampire.

Taran is ace-with-one-exception, that exception being Drew. Maybe he's leaning more towards demisexual, since he's managed to make a ridiculously strong emotional connection to his sea monster. He's never even been open with anyone else, so who knows. He loves Drew, which freaks him out a bit, Drew loves him back, which freaks him out even more, and Drew is mad accommodating of his numerous hang-ups, which he appreciates.

Rachel is either bi or polysexual. She's had flings here and there before she settled, but nothing too serious. Not until Ryan, anyway. She loves the everloving hell out of Ryan, and since he sort of came with a Jerry attached, she came to like him an awful lot too. Officially, she and Ryan were married, but she and Jerry were making a Ryan sandwich all the damn time. All. The damn. Time.

Ryan is just confused? He didn't really have any serious relationships until college, and it was Jerry. They fell into it so fast he realized he had been hardcore pining over him since at least high school. Then Rachel hit him like a truck out of nowhere, which just complicated things and confused him more. They made it work, and it was great, for the time he had.

Jerry likes everyone, I think, but especially Ryan. Hell, he realized Ryan was falling for Rachel before Ryan did, and encouraged him to see where it went, even. He was ecstatic when they got engaged, even helped plan the wedding. He also didn't mean to fall for her himself, but whoops. That happened. So yeah, Ryan sandwiches. He likes everyone, but especially Ryan and Rachel.

Bea is a lesbian, no probably or maybe about it. She's known it since at least freshman year, and doesn't care who else knows. She's had girlfriends, but nothing really long term. Hell, she wasn't exactly super into Karen from the get-go (who gets together after meeting at a bank?) but lots of talking and hangouts later, and actually, yeah, she's into Karen. It's been really nice.

Karen is also a lesbian and has probably been declaring that she wanted to marry a girl one day rather than a boy since she was small. She is fairly sure Bea might be that girl, which would be great, as she really really likes Bea. A lot. Like, when they met at the bank her first thought was "Oh shit this is the girl I'm going to marry" levels of liking.

Argon is "how dare you ask it's none of your business *grumble grumble* Nic." He's never been interested in anyone else, and it took him a couple centuries to get there, and a few more to figure out why Nic always made him feel Some Kind of Way. But damn it all, his blacksmith/apothecary/bodyguard is a good and amazing person, and also adorkable, not that that's a word he would ever use. So yeah, that Some Kind of Way is love.

Nic is bisexual. He has had exactly one girlfriend, many centuries back, and he really cared for her. Unfortunately he also accidentally killed her (he really really didn't mean to hug so hard ohgod), so he stopped dating girls because he was afraid he would break another one. It messed him up pretty bad. He pined over Argon for ages, but he was sort of afraid he would break him, too (he could). So he tried to keep it lowkey as best he could, but over the years he got worse and worse at it, so bad in fact that he eventually just broke down and kissed him. One thing led to another, awkward awkward awkward, and now they're together and he's happy. He's still careful though.

Sylvie is still not my character, but I've always figured her as straight. The only relationship I know of is a relatively short-lived fling with Chad in RP 'Verse, but girl gets a mention anyway. It was pretty good? But they stopped getting along toward the end. Argon hopes that if she absolutely must date, she'll at least find some decent vampire guy with at least some nobility, please.
